Entry Level Positions
Many states allow a pharmacy technician to work with no
related experience or training. Pharmacy technicians in these states are simply
needed to have a secondary school degree. These pharmacy technicians are
generally trained by the pharmacists. This allows the pharmacy technician to
start a career in medical care with no optional training. This is a pleasant
advantage for somebody who wants to work directly out of secondary school.
The drawback to this circumstance is that the rate of pay is
probably going to be close to the lowest pay permitted by law. The hourly rate
for a starting pharmacy technician with no training or experience will normally
go from $10 to $11 per hour. These positions are typically found in retail,
exclusive, and mail order pharmacies. Most entry-level pharmacy technician
occupations offer a little yearly raise and paid vacation.
